Home is where the heart is….

February 22, 2013

After spending many years in catering i have noticed one major change……

More ready made meals.

Alot of these changes have been in the last 5 years ever since the recession fully kicked in. Its been hard for everyone with even the basic loaf of bread doubling in price.

Unfortunately, the supermarkets who can help have chosen to make more profits instead of helping people. Every day types of food have gone up to the point its hard enough for a family of for to have affordable fresh food, and therefore the “ready meal” is an easier alternative.

This is where i come in…..

What i would like to do with this blog is to help bring home cooking back to that…cooking at home.

I am a trained chef of over 10 year and have had the pleasure of working with some very talented chefs and some amazing restaurants, hotels and pubs. i want to be able to pass on some of my skills to everyone and  help in what ever way i can.

The simplest way to start s by going back to basics and back to how things were buy making things at home.

After world war 2, the country got back to its feet, well in its homes any way by growing its own food and making everything at home, from soups to stews to pies to cakes.

week by week i shall produce recipes to help save money and bring back cooking to eveery day familys. These recipes shall be so easy to cook and follow even children can help too.

These recipes can be used by anyone and everyone and im hoping this blog can get passed around and who knows it might even get sent around the world.

Every week, i will post up different recipes from quick easy meals, seasonal ideas, and 3 course meals for special occasions.

I’ll also write up tips and suggestions of where to buy ingredients and how much they cost. I’ll spend tome going round local markets, looking for local ingredients and i’ll even throw in the odd local classic too.

Lets bring home made food back home.
